Reverse the Red Day 2026
Date: 7 February 2026
Worldwide
As a founding partner of Reverse the Red, alongside the IUCN Species Survival Commission and other conservation partners, WAZA is proud to support this global movement.
What is Reverse the Red?
Reverse the Red is a global coalition of conservation organisations working together to accelerate action to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. The initiative focuses on collective impact, measurable conservation outcomes, and collaboration across sectors to improve the status of threatened species worldwide.
Why this matters for WAZA Members?
As a member of WAZA, your institution plays a vital role in conservation. Participating in Reverse the Red Day increases the visibility of your conservation impact and connects your work to a coordinated international initiative focused on reversing biodiversity loss. It offers an opportunity to demonstrate how your actions contribute to species recovery and to communicate this impact clearly to your audiences and stakeholders.
How to take part?
There are many ways for your institution to get involved:
Host an event: Engage staff, visitors, and your community with activities that raise awareness about species recovery and showcase your conservation work.
- Submit a Species Pledge: Outline a concrete action your institution is taking to contribute to species recovery. Pledges demonstrate collective impact and inspire others in the global zoo and aquarium community.
- Share your story: Share how your institution is actively contributing to species recovery and highlight your conservation successes.
