WAZA Welcomes New Member – Emirates Park Zoo and Resort

The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is pleased to welcome a new Institution Member to the global zoo and aquarium community – Emirates Park Zoo and Resort.

Emirates Park Zoo and Resort, located midway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, consists of a Zoo, a Resort, an arcade area, restaurants, a pet hospital, and a pet hotel. With 220 different species, including mammals, reptiles, birds, and fishes; the zoo has a strong focus on conservation, education, research and edutainment.

WAZA CEO, Dr Martín Zordan said, ‘We are thrilled to welcome Emirates Park Zoo and Resort to the WAZA community. As an association, we strive towards becoming truly global and this means having representatives from diverse regions who bring unique perspectives. I am confident that our members will value the opportunity to engage with Emirates Park Zoo and Resort.’


Emirates Park Zoo and Resort follows a 5 year master plan to expand and enhance its outcome as a modern zoo. The expansion will include a butterfly garden, mini safari, ancestor land, and more modern exhibits with 360 views.

Emirates Park Zoo and Resort is also a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the International Zoo Educators Association (IZE), Species 360, and an affiliate member of the Southeast Asian Zoos and Aquariums Association (SEAZA).
