WAZA Welcomes New Head of Partnerships and Advocacy

The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is pleased to announce that Loïs Lelanchon has joined WAZA as the Head of Partnerships and Advocacy. Loïs is a lawyer specialised in environmental law and animal law and has previously held policy and programmatic positions with international NGOs in the field of animal welfare and wildlife conservation. 

WAZA CEO, Dr Martín Zordan said, ‘I am very pleased to welcome Loïs to the WAZA team. Loïs joins the position which was created as a result of our strategic planning process, and I am confident that his experience in building strategic partnerships and driving advocacy initiatives will be invaluable as we continue to advance our vision to be a globally recognised and trusted leader advancing conservation and animal welfare.’ 

Loïs has an extensive background as a lawyer with Master’s degrees in International and Comparative Environmental Law, and Animal Law and Society. His experience as EU Policy Officer for Humane International Society (HSI) and Head of Programme, Wildlife Rescue for the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) underscores his capacity to drive impactful change at WAZA.
