The ZSL Bicentenary Symposium, organised in collaboration with the IUCN SSC Extinct in the Wild Action Partnership, will bring together scientists, conservation practitioners, policymakers and communicators to consider the complex decisions involved in species rescue. The programme will address the balance between in-situ and ex-situ conservation, alongside ecological, cultural, ethical, legal and socioeconomic considerations.

Sessions will cover topics including ecological challenges, Indigenous perspectives, policy and politics, and decision science, with a focus on responsible approaches to species rescue and supporting threatened species at critical points in their survival.
