Date: 30 June 2025
Online
This online event will explore upcoming efforts to improve the coordination of wildlife rescue across Europe. The session will address:
- Plans to expand overall rescue capacity
- Strategies to make better use of existing resources
- Approaches to facilitate the placement of confiscated or surrendered wild animals
- Efforts to centralise rescue data to support future policy development
Attendees will hear about initiatives that will take place across Europe and beyond, as well as the collaboration that will occur between rescue centres, zoos, and authorities.
Speakers will include:
- Dave Eastham, Executive Director, European Alliance of Rescue Centres & Sanctuaries
- Cécile Erny, Executive Director, Association Française des Parcs Zoologiques (AFdPZ)
- Eva Schippers, Head of Rescue & Rehabilitation, AAP Animal Advocacy and Protection
The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is the global alliance of regional associations, national federations, zoos and aquariums, dedicated to the care and conservation of animals and their habitats around the world.
