The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) welcomes Save Giraffes Now, based in the United States, as a new Affiliate Member.
Save Giraffes Now is a conservation organisation dedicated to ensuring a future for giraffes in the wild, working to protect populations across Africa. Through a combination of field-based initiatives and community engagement, Save Giraffes Now supports sustainable conservation efforts in ten countries, focusing on rescue and rewilding, anti-poaching measures, and fostering coexistence between wildlife and local communities.
WAZA CEO Dr Martín Zordan said, “WAZA is pleased to welcome Save Giraffes Now as an Affiliate Member. Their commitment to field-based conservation, community engagement and collaborative partnerships reflects the values at the heart of our global network. We look forward to working together to strengthen conservation efforts for giraffes.”
Founded in 2019, Save Giraffes Now has rapidly grown to become one of the leading organisations focused on giraffe conservation. Its collaborative approach, working closely with local communities, conservation partners, and international stakeholders, has contributed to meaningful and measurable impact for wild giraffe populations.
Susan Myers, CEO and Founder of Save Giraffes Now said, “Save Giraffes Now is grateful to join WAZA and engage in the global conservation conversation. Though we are first and foremost giraffe-focused, we are proud to promote work that has a positive impact on all wildlife, as well as the people living alongside them, because together we can make a difference!”
By joining WAZA, Save Giraffes Now aims to strengthen collaboration with zoos, aquariums, and conservation experts worldwide.
Save Giraffes Now is a member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA).
