Uzbekistan will host the 20th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP20) to CITES from 24 November – 5 December 2025 in the historic city of Samarkand.

The conference will bring together governments, experts and partners from around the world to review trade regulations for endangered species, consider proposals to amend the CITES Appendices, and discuss key issues such as sustainable wildlife trade, species conservation and international cooperation.

As the first CITES CoP to take place in Central Asia and coinciding with the Convention’s 50th anniversary, the meeting is expected to draw thousands of participants. By welcoming the global wildlife community to Samarkand, Uzbekistan is underscoring its long-standing commitment to the protection of wild fauna and flora.
