The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is delighted to welcome a new Affiliate Member to the global zoo and aquarium community – Fondation Juniclair.
Located in Luxembourg, Fondation Juniclair was founded in 2007 and is a part of Batipart. Fondation Juniclair was also recognised as a public utility by Grand Ducal decree in 2013.
“The Fondation Juniclair is a family foundation based in Luxembourg with a proactive and entrepreneurial approach to select projects. Education and wildlife conservation being among its main goals, the Foundation is very excited to join WAZA in order to leverage its involvement and contribute to the collective effort to the preservation of nature,” said Claire Ruggieri, President, Fondation Juniclair.
Fondation Juniclair works towards the protection of the environment, access to education and training, allowing social reintegration, and the fight against any kind of discrimination. Its main goal is to be a part of in situ animal conservation projects, in particular in three areas: South Africa, Madagascar, and Nepal.
WAZA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Martín Zordan said, “WAZA is thrilled to have Fondation Juniclair as its Affiliate Member, with its support and commitment to the environment and animal conservation. We are especially excited since it is our only member in Luxembourg and will bring diversity and richness to our community.”
Fondation Juniclair hopes to help preserve resources, promote sustainability, and save endangered animal species.
