Reopening Strategies

On Thursday 28 May WAZA hosted a webinar with panellists from around the world to discuss reopening strategies, and experiences from those that have already reopened to the public, as well as regional differences and perspectives.

Conservation is Not Closed

On 22 April, WAZA hosted its third webinar in in a series related to COVID-19. The webinar was facilitated by Dr Martín Zordan, WAZA CEO and featured panellists Mike Barclay, CEO of Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), and David Walsh and Eric Miller from Zoo Advisors. Participants engaged in fruitful discussions, with people adding their thoughts from all around the world.

Communication Strategies in a COVID-19 World

On 8 April we hosted a webinar with Jill Allread CEO of Public Communications Inc. (PCI).  The webinar delved into the following topics.

1) Being strategic with communications during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis
2) Knowing who you should be talking to now and why
3) Using this disruption productively to:
– reflect and review communications strategies to be a more progressive zoological institution
– renew institution plans, and
– build relevancy as a leading zoological institution and authority on the relationship and connection of humans and wildlife.

Experiences from Ocean Park, Hong Kong

On 1 April, we held the first WAZA webinar, with Michael Boos, Executive Director, Zoological Operations and Conservation of Ocean Park Corporation, Hong Kong. Michael shared his experiences from Ocean Park, which has been shut to the public since January as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
