The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is delighted to welcome Ms Razan Al Mubarak, Ms Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, Professor Mauro Guillén and Dr Brian Davis as keynote speakers for the 76th WAZA Virtual Annual Conference, from 11 to 14 October 2021.

Her Excellency, Ms Razan Al Mubarak, the newly elected IUCN President, will deliver the opening keynote on 11 October. She will discuss her vision for the future of the IUCN, as well as the role zoos and aquariums can play working together with the IUCN.

On day two of the conference, we will hear from Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. Ms Mrema will talk about the role of zoos and aquariums in supporting the biodiversity agenda and the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.

On Wednesday, we will again look towards the future, with Prof Mauro Guillén, dean of the Cambridge Judge Business School and author of: 2030 How Today’s Biggest Trends Will Collide and Reshape the Future of Everything. He will share insights and trends for the next decade and key lessons for zoos and aquariums

Dr Brian Davis, President and CEO of Georgia Aquarium, and Chair of the Board of Directors for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), will deliver the conference’s final keynote on 14 October. Dr Davis will delve into AZA’s 5th Promise: Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion and share how the global zoological community can advance diversity, equity, access, and inclusion practices in the profession and integrate these as values into our organisational cultures.
