Climate Change

During the 64th Annual Conference of WAZA, held on 4–8 October 2009 in St. Louis (USA), a Climate Change Task Force was established, jointly with the IUCN/SSC Conservation Breeding Specialist Group (CBSG). A petition was tabled in November 2009, followed by a position statement in October 2010. A resolution on combating climate change was adopted at the 65th Annual Conference of WAZA, held on 17–21 October 2010 in Cologne (Germany).

"Climate change is not just another issue for the WAZA community to consider; it is the chess board on which all our activities are placed", says Paul-Pearce Kelly, chairing the Climate Change Task Force. "We are therefore extremely concerned about the threats facing all wildlife and natural systems."
